More About Skylar

My goal in being a Christian singer is to be able to impact boys and girls my age to live for Jesus every day whether they’re with friends at school or with friends at church. I want them to know that nothing else can satisfy their need for companionship and love and fulfillment like Jesus does.

My favorite Scripture is Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to Life, and only a few find it.” What this Scripture means to me is that living for Jesus might not always be the easy path, but it’s always worth it in the end.

My other favorite Scripture is Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” It encourages me when I’m really busy and I might start slipping from my faith or I’m just tired…it helps me to stop and remember that He is my God and He is with me and He’s bigger than all of this…it always gets me calmed down. Jesus Christ is my Hope, my first Love, my Security, my Life and my Eternity. I hope He’s yours as well.

Skylar Kaylyn is 15 years old and was born in Mission Viejo, CA, spending most of her life growing up in a small town in Wyoming. She loves her family of dad Randy, mom Summer, her big brother Taran and her little sister Serenity. She also a large extended family and with 16 cousins she enjoys the crazy and chaotic family get-togethers.

Skylar introduces herself and talks about her album below:

Book Review: Finding the Perfect Wave by Cheri Miklich

Book Review by Julene Fleurmond, Editor of SOAR

Finding the Perfect Wave is a great book that dives into the world of Alli Whitton, a 17-year-old avid surfer who seems to have it all together. When tragedy and change crashes into her world she has to learn to readjust, and to boldly face the rough trials in her path.

I really enjoyed the story and the way the the author created believable characters and situations that young people and adults can relate too. She also wasn’t afraid to delve into serious topics like losing a loved one and navigating the waters of rocky friendships, broken relationships and the feelings that come along with betrayal.

I found myself feeling for the main character Alli when she faced obstacles and especially when she felt out of place at times when starting at a new school. Of course a there was some romance weaved within, which I as a girl enjoyed, especially since the relationships didn’t go overboard like in other books and movies for young adults these days.

Cheri brought the characters’ faith into the story in a way that was natural and unforced, and draws the reader into their lives. The book is an encouragement to stand strong even when it seems that life is pounding on you from every side.

By the end I found myself wanting to find out more about Alli and her story, which thankfully I and other readers will be able to because Cheri has released a new sequel called Riding the Perfect Wave. You can order both books from her website at www.cherihmiklich.com.

More About Cheri Miklich

Finding the Perfect Wave, part one, is Cheri’s first novel and the first in the Perfect Wave series. She grew up in Southern California where she loved spending as much free time as she could at the beach. She and her husband Mark, live in Arizona with their four children. She loves to travel with her family, especially to beautiful beaches.

She has been asked on many occasions, “How does a stay at home Mom come to write a book?” Her answer… Continue Reading

Finding the Perfect Wave Book Description: From the Publisher

Alli…there’s been an accident.’ Her voice grew silent. ‘What?’ I began to hear sobbing coming from the other end of the line. A sick feeling overtook my whole body. The fear of what I was about to hear became a stronger reality with each of Sara’s sobs. ‘There was a really bad car accident, and Alli…’ She paused and began to cry louder. ‘H-He’s…gone. He’s dead.’

Seventeen-year-old Alli Whitton’s life just can’t get any better. She’s one of the best surfers in Huntington Beach, spending every day side by side with her boyfriend, Todd, and just days away from entering the halls of her senior year in high school. Then her dad is transferred miles away from her beloved ocean to the middle of the sweltering Arizona desert, and Alli’s perfect life is threatened. It takes an uphill turn, however, when she meets Jake, the school’s handsome soccer star, whose sandy blond hair and sharp green eyes remind her how to smile once again. All she needs to do is make it ten long months; then she’s free to return to California.

But when an unthinkable tragedy occurs, Alli is forced into mourning the loss of a dear loved one, leaving her suffering through the grieving process in a new school with none of her best friends to comfort her. Cheri Miklich’s Finding the Perfect Wave is a romantic coming-of-age drama where readers will learn, along with Alli, to smile and laugh even amidst life’s darkest hours. A new romance blooms, hope and faith fight to prevail, and a strong realization of passion for her dreams surfaces as she discovers who she is meant to be. Join Alli as she enters the waters of life and seeks to find the perfect wave!

Music Pick & Inspiration: Well Done – Music Video from Moriah Peters

“Well Done” is an inspiring song from 19-year-old Moriah Peter’s debut album I Choose Jesus, and the cheerful video will lift your spirits as she sings about two words we live to hear one day…

Moriah on “Well Done”

Bold, bright balloons and lights…that’s my kind of heaven.

My second single, “Well Done,” was written about the hope that we have in heaven. The anticipation of hearing these two simple words can inspire us to love extravagantly and take risks because we’re not living for this world, we’re walking by faith and trusting in what is not yet seen!

My prayer is that this video becomes a sweet reminder for us to enjoy not just endure life’s challenges, to love not just like our enemies, and with Christ as our strength and heaven as our destination, to live for the day we get to hear the powerful words: “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”

Enjoy this day as if all of heaven were celebrating with you(:

Below Moriah gives more encouragement for our walk with God…

Moriah’s music is so soothing and heartfelt, and she shines with a passion for showing God’s love. You can find out more about her at www.moriahpeters.com.

Well Done Lyrics
I’m headed down this narrow road
Chosen by the few
And all that I know is
You told me to follow You

I’m taking a risk and leaving it all
Not knowing what I’ll go through
But I’m not alone
As long as I follow You

So when my life’s a leap of faith
I can hear You say

Well done, well done
I’m gonna chase You, Lord
I’m gonna show the world Your love, whoa
I’ll run, I’ll run
I’m gonna run this race
To hear You say well done

Word: By His Stripes We Are Healed, Isaiah 53

Isaiah 53

1 Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

Man Up Conference & Robot: Trip Lee’s New Single from His Upcoming Album

Above Trip Lee talks about the upcoming “Man Up” Conference where he’ll be teaching and about his his upcoming album release.

“Robot” is the first song of Trip Lee’s upcoming album “The Good Life” releasing April 10. Click here for full lyrics to the song and get a free download below.

In the Lyrics
I am not your robot, I am not a clone
You are not my puppeteer and I am not a drone
Got a new master and I follow Him alone
I want a good life till I’m gone

Verse 1:
Hey I was born less than human
I know it sounds crazy
But I was really born a robot as a baby
No real life in me, I just played my role
No self control, I just did what I was told
I got my first order, I was just a day old
But I didn’t have a chance, cause my heart was way cold
My heart took the order, I couldn’t break the mold
Sold under bondage and I couldn’t take control
So I was just chilling in my robot clothes
With my robot friends, and my robot flows
Living robot ways, cause that’s all I know
Till I heard I could be freed from my robot soul, I’m like…

Say Yes To Your Purpose For Such a Time As This: Inspiration from Beckah Shae

“It’s not only that God just forgives you…it’s not only that He covered me and set me free and forgave me, but He goes so much farther. He crowns me with glory and honor and favor, He calls me His daughter – I thrive on the joy…the presence of God is the fullness of joy…” – Beckah Shae

A few weeks back I heard Beckah Shae’s testimony on the Revolution show on JCTV and was moved by her heart for God and her story. Watch her talk about how she came to where she is today:

“I know personally that I’ve been called to stand. I’d like to see how many people are going to be really, truly willing to stand…Do you know Him and does He know you?” – Beckah Shae

At the beginning of January I gave a message to the teen girl ministry at my church about Esther and how like she followed God’s plan for her life, we should also be bold and say yes to our purpose. One of my inspirations for the message was Beckah Shae’s song from her album “Destiny,” listen to the lyrics below:

Phil Wickham on Pursuing Purpose and Finding God’s Will

“You are not to young to find out and seek what God wants you to do with your life right now…your voice isn’t too small…” – Phil Wickham

Each day is a new opportunity to pursue purpose and use our gifts to serve God and others. I’m inspired by this interview with Phil Wickham on Seeds TV where he talks about how he hopes to use music to move others and how young people can find and follow their purpose right where you are:

“It’s more than just knowing who God is, it’s seeking Him with your heart…”

Phil’s latest project is Response and he’s gearing up for another Singalong live recording which will take place on March 30, 2012, in Cosa Mesa, CA. Find out more about how you can attend at http://www.philwickham.com/singalong2, and watch Phil talk about the event below:

Artist Snapshots & Music Pick: Level 3:16

Started as a part of the Impact Movement (a ministry geared toward college students) and now in partnership with Cross Movement Records comes Level 3:16 bringing a fresh, energetic and spiritually uplifting sound. The group blends the sounds of Hip Hop, R&B and urban gospel, and is made up of six members – two male MCs, a female DJ and three female vocalists. I love that their music brings beats that you can enjoy and move along to, and still is lyrically full of substance that can move the heart. It’s also not just about the music for Level 3:16 – they see themselves as missionaries or “musicianaries” who are called to creatively share the Gospel where ever they go.

You can connect with Level 3:16 on Facebook at www.facebook.com/level316. They will also be at the upcoming Impact Conference 2011: The Remedy, taking place December 28, 2011 through January 1, 2012. Read more about the conference here on SOAR, and visit www.theremedy11.com to find out more. Click here to watch Impact 11 streaming live during the conference.

Music Pick: Love – t.Jay & Level 3:16

More About Level 3:16

Answering the call of Scripture to use their God-given talents for the purpose of promoting the gospel as urban missionaries, new group Level 3:16 enters the scene focused and determined as musicianaries (music-missionaries). Uniting this unique collection of young, energetic artists from all across the country is one common mission: to elevate their culture and generation to the next level of reality that goes beyond what is seen to what is unseen; that level begins with embracing the gospel message of the quintessential/renowned Bible verse John 3:16 as both the means and goal of life itself…
