“…the fulfilling of who you are and your purpose for being here is not found outside, it’s trusting God to move you, to inspire you…” – Ernie Hudson
Lately Dream in Soul has been busy shining a light and spreading inspiration at various events through speaking or representing our Dream in Soul Creative Apparel line (stay tuned for more updates on the blog). Here’s Actor Ernie Hudson with one of our latest designs “Live, Love and Dream for a greater Purpose” at a recent event; you might know him from one of over 100 movie and TV roles – of which he might be best known for his role in Ghostbusters. Ernie’s also an inspiring man of faith who played the voice of the apostle Peter in the “Word of Promise” audio Bible.
Ernie grew up thinking he’d be a minister, but then acting came about after trying different things and not feeling as if he found his sweet spot. When he got to college he took an acting class and felt right at home. Ernie shared encouragement on purpose and dreams in an interview with TBN:
“When I read the Bible it’s the Spirit, it’s the knowing that, it’s the fulfilling of who you are and your purpose for being here is not found outside, it’s trusting God to move you, to inspire you – to move through inspiration. To want the things that you want is a wonderful thing but trust in God to guide you to that and things will work out perfectly…but unfortunately sometimes you fear – when you start feeling fear then it’s not the right direction.
Sometimes in desperation we try to reach out and find things outside of ourselves and trust other people who are trying to sell us something. You really need to listen to the inner voice and know that you’ll be guided and the right thing will line up for you – it always has for me. But if you’re looking for someone out there…put not your trust in man.”

Music Pick & Inspiration: Well Done – Music Video from Moriah Peters
“Well Done” is an inspiring song from 19-year-old Moriah Peter’s debut album I Choose Jesus, and the cheerful video will lift your spirits as she sings about two words we live to hear one day…
Moriah on “Well Done”
Bold, bright balloons and lights…that’s my kind of heaven.
My second single, “Well Done,” was written about the hope that we have in heaven. The anticipation of hearing these two simple words can inspire us to love extravagantly and take risks because we’re not living for this world, we’re walking by faith and trusting in what is not yet seen!
My prayer is that this video becomes a sweet reminder for us to enjoy not just endure life’s challenges, to love not just like our enemies, and with Christ as our strength and heaven as our destination, to live for the day we get to hear the powerful words: “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”
Enjoy this day as if all of heaven were celebrating with you(:
Below Moriah gives more encouragement for our walk with God…
Moriah’s music is so soothing and heartfelt, and she shines with a passion for showing God’s love. You can find out more about her at www.moriahpeters.com.
Ministry Watch and Message Pick: Touré Roberts on Purpose, Pride and Healing
One Church International is a powerful ministry in North Hollywood, California, the heart of the entertainment industry. While One Church is open to a wide audience it especially provides guidance and resources to young adults who are called to impact the arts and entertainment. Rising performers, musicians, industry executives, filmmakers and others in related fields are mentored through weekly gatherings, and have the chance to grow within The Artist Resource Center (ARC), a not-for-profit facility that provides artists with the tools and knowledge to grow in their craft.
In the first video above Pastor Touré Roberts brings a convicting message about getting rid of excuses and pride that prevent us from living in the full purpose that God has for us.
In the second message below he motivates us to breakaway from distractions and the ordinary way of the world to intentionally pursue our purpose:
Purpose & Healing Message Notes:
– The number one distraction in someone’s life is the distraction from one’s purpose.
– “Purpose makes life relevant. The absence of purpose makes life random…”
– Purpose is the divine plan of God concerning you – it is His best for you.
– …When you are committed to walk in purpose you come into alignment with God’s anointing for your life; He cannot anoint what He has not chosen for you…He can only anoint what you are supposed to be doing.

Inspiration: Never Going Back from David and Nicole Binion & Covenant Worship and The Sound Worship Conference 2012
Love embracing, captivating, taken by Your grace; Heart so tender, I surrender hold me in this place. I know I’m loved by You…I’m never going back to the way it was.” – Lyrics from Never Going Back
Never Going Back is a moving song from Covenant Church’s new worship album “Standing” released through Integrity Music, recorded at a previous The Sound Worship Conference.
The Sound Worship Conference 2012 hosted by David and Nicole Binion at Covenant Church in Carrollton, TX, where I attend, is coming back this year June 20-23, 2012. I’ve attended some of the past conferences and have always come back spiritually full from the experience of God’s love and purpose in worship.
The daytime sessions (for registrants) feature speakers like John Brockman and John Ragsdale with break-out sessions for musicians, media leaders and others. The nighttime services are open to the public with worship lead by Kari Jobe, Martha Munizzi, the Covenant Worship team and speakers like author of “The Circle Maker” Mark Batterson, Pastor Mike Hayes, and more.

The Creative Church Conferences: Embracing the Arts in Your Church
Imagine if the local church became the place in culture to experience creativity, transcendence, and beauty…
Hundreds of years ago churches were, in many ways, centers for these experiences. Somehow, over time we’ve abdicated that role. Now, many churches are moving in that direction again and there’s a growing desire to begin developing creative arts programs.
The Creative Church Conferences will offer inspiration and ideas for churches and artists at all levels; whether you have a flourishing arts ministry, or are an individual artist looking to spark the arts in your church.
Dates and Locations:
Indianapolis, IN: June 15-17 at Indy Vineyard Community Church
Boise, ID: July 13-15 at Vineyard Boise ChurchThe Creative Church Conferences are forums for ideas and practices that can take artists and churches to new levels of glorifying God through the use of the arts.
Creative leaders from several movements and denominations will share visionary ideas and practical applications. Speakers include Rory Noland (Heart of the Artist), Theresa Dedmon (Bethel Church Arts), Joe Boyd (Filmmaker/Actor/Pastor), ,J. Scott McElroy (Finding Divine Inspiration), Jessie Nilo (VineArts Boise), Beth Booram (Awaken the Senses), Kyle Ragsdale and more.(See a full list of speakers.) Attendees can share during panel discussions and open forums. At the Indianapolis conference, the artists will completely design two Sunday services to conclude the weekend. At the Boise conference, the conference will wrap up with artist Dave Blakeslee giving a Sunday message while creating pottery.
It should be noted that there are many creative conferences that focus solely on musical worship in the church. While the Creative Church Conferences include and appreciates music and worship ministry, the main focus of the weekend is on integrating the rest of the arts–including visual art, film, poetry, drama, dance, and more–into the local church.
Who should come?
If you are an artist, Pastor, or leader interested in the arts in the local church, you need to be a part of The Creative Church Conferences.
Artists and creative teams will discover inspiration for projects and techniques, community-building, character and creative development, and so much more. You’ll find your creative “tribe.”
Pastors and leaders will discover how to release the godly creativity inherent in every member of your congregation, how to start and maintain arts ministry, how to disciple and lead artists, and how to transform your church into a place that shares God’s love in uniquely creative ways, and much more.
