Editor’s Journal: Grow Your Dream While Nurturing Another’s
Some say if you don’t build your dreams than you’ll be hired help, but building others’ Kingdom dreams is building God’s as well…
I’ve heard it said that when you don’t build your dreams, somebody else will hire you to build theirs. This may be true in ways, that when we’re lackadaisical about our purpose we can end up in unfulfilling jobs, but what’s so wrong with helping someone else build their dreams if it is for a greater purpose that will benefit the lives of others? Look at Joseph who was a slave for years and helped to bring clarity to others’ dreams before he saw his own come to reality. His position in the prison led him to the very place in the palace where he would save the lives of many…
One of my life mantras is that their is greatness in service and often before seeing our dreams come to fruition we may be called to help someone else’s vision. It’s important for us to have discernment on when it’s time for us to move on our own dreams, but faithfully serving in a greater mission can sow seeds of character, wisdom and relationships that make you richer than when you began.
Over the past year I’ve been a part of an amazing internship at my church where I was able to be a small part of something big in God’s Kingdom. The journey was difficult and and I sowed much time and energy, but I come out all the richer because of being able to build others’ dreams, going deeper in my pursuit of God and meeting some of the most amazing people that have forever changed my life.
Below meet some of those people and see a glimpse of our journey of finding purpose:
Are you in a place right now where you can sow your time and glean unlikely fruit even in places that seem like the prison?
Ask God to help you reflect on how He want you to grow and serve others in the season you are in while growing closer to Him and gaining greater clarity on your purpose. There is always something to reap in each season – even if it is the deepening of your knowledge and intimacy with God; that in itself is well worth anything you will endure. – Julene
Perspective: 1 person's prison can be another's purpose. To thrive, truly discern where you're called & share fruit even from the prison.
