Alex G on Overcoming Anxiety and Music with James David and Danielle Bennett

Life can get stressful especially in the world we live in and maybe you can relate to Alex G’s story of how she’s learning to overcome anxiety – I definitely could relate to the frustration, feelings and am inspired by her vulnerability…

“I have had bad anxiety since I was 10 years old. For those of you struggling with it, I understand now that it can be really serious and damaging. Be compassionate towards each other. You have no idea how much it can help those with emotional needs!

“This is my story. I hope that it encourages others who struggle with mental disorders to start the process of stepping away from their shame and fear. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!” – Alex G

Be sure to check out Alex’s amazing music – here are some of my favorites: her passionate cover of “I Was Made For Loving You” with James David (DAVIE) (the original is by Tori Kelly and Ed Sheeran) and her original song Lighthouse with spoken word by Danielle Bennett – so beautiful, heart-moving and relevant to what so many people are feeling in the world today. All of these young artists are inspiring ones to follow, be sure to check out their sites below!

Overcoming Anxiety and Growing Your Faith In Quarantine

When we see changes happen in the world and we’re at home during the Corona Virus / Covid19 quarantine it’s a perfect time for us to be love, to walk in faith, to reach out to one another by maybe helping a neighbor in need (after you’ve washed your hands of course) & to have empathy & God’s outlook. Hint: God’s perspective doesn’t look like what the news or social media shows you.

When you have a relationship with God you can have a stability when the world shakes & know who is sovereign no matter what happens & God can give you prophetic insight about the times & seasons. He asks us to love one another & to pray because prayer tears down what darkness tries to use to harm and cripple people with fear and dis-ease. Pray for an end to the virus & any other issues going on that He puts on your heart, pray for leaders to have heavenly solutions. Pray to have perfect peace in the storm because God offers that to us so that fear doesn’t grip us.

It’s important to be prepared especially in the season we live & to take precaution with wisdom (like social distancing to care for your neighbor who may have a compromised immune system) but don’t let despair get you down. Fear causes people to panic & act in ways that that are not God’s intention. Faith allows you to see above the storm & even see how God is working for good within circumstances that the enemy intended for evil.

Connect with your family & with God during the time you may have at home (the school I work at is closed for now so I’m praying for all of those parents and teachers & for people everywhere whose jobs are on hold or have been lost).

Revival starts individually & I truly believe revival starts w/ family – & when the body of Christ realizes that they’re a family meant to work together to walk with authority like Jesus & tear down darkness. Our faith is tested- do we believe what God said in His Word or will we look to the world for answers when God wants to give us answers? Take dominion by walking in your purpose while you’re taking time to rest & reconnect with your loved ones. We’re in this together family.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4

“‘Cause I’m unstoppable, I get all the way in it
That’s the way I was made and I’m up on my business
‘Cause I’m unstoppable, ain’t no hoping and wishing
Say a prayer, catch your wave, then I go out and get it
‘Cause I can be what I want, try it if I want
I’m powered by the King and He won’t let me fall
‘Cause I’m unstoppable, nah, nah, nah, He won’t let me fall”

Music Picks: Not For Sale and Tomorrow Will Come From CASS

I first heard CASS’s music this summer at Youth for the Nations and was drawn to her sound and messages – her music is lit and fills a void in the music industry that has been desperately needed! CASS hails from New Zealand and merges her love for danceable rhythms with lyrics of substance and inspiration to create something vibrant and youthful.

Her song Not For Sale Talks about the journey she has taken from being a college student to stepping out on the dream God gave her of creating music. In just a year she has written and produced music in her bedroom that has topped the charts in her home country and is reaching people’s hearts. Check out this interview CASS did with YMI on how she got started. To find out more about CASS and more of her music follow her on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/casskanda.

Editor’s Journal: Trust God At All Times and Song Inspiration

We can trust God at all times even in the world we live in today and in the storms of life because we know the One who holds the world has us in His hands when we put our hope in Him. Love is trustworthy always.
.
Here’s one of my favorite songs in Haitian Creole: Konfie’m Nan Dieu. The lyrics loosely translate to: Trust in the Lord, know that He takes care of me. In the wilderness or in bad times. The oceans may rise but God holds me firm, my Papa in Heaven will take care of me… .

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. Isaiah 26:3-4 ESV
