Reflections: The David Crowder*Band On the Mechanics of Change
The David Crowder*Band recently spoke to the philanthropy organization Causecast about some of their views on the mechanics of social change and leveraging the arts to address the current climate of the world. In the interview they also touched on challenges music artists face today, and of course Twitter. The interview is really candid and interesting, and was part of Causecast’s series with influential musicians, aimed at asking them questions about relevant issues that might not come up in other interviews, and to inspire others to take steps of change. You can read the entire article on Causecast.org: The David Crowder* Band On The Mechanics Of Change.
Some highlights from the interview:
Are You Listening: A Love Song for Haiti
As those in Haiti cry out for help, it’s amazing to see the outpouring of love and unity to come to their aid. Recently the Gospel music community came together to record a tribute song, “Are You Listening.” Kirk Franklin rallied up artists such as CeCe Winans, BeBe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, Shirley Caesar, Fred Hammond, Smokie Norful, Marvin Sapp, Karen Clark Sheard, Natalie Grant, Jeremy Camp and many others, to record the song he wrote for Haiti eight years ago.
The proceeds of the song will be donated to Unicef and other charities to help with relief efforts in the rebuilding of communities.
“Are You Listening” is now available for purchase at www.verityrecords.com. The single will also be available next week on iTunes after January 30 at Wal-Mart and other major retailers. Do your part in sending love to Haiti with your continued donations and prayers.

In Review: BeBe and CeCe Winans “Still”

Still the new album from BeBe and CeCe Winans is finally available on October 6. Their first album together in fifteen years, Still features 12 uplifting songs that merge the duo’s classic sounds with contemporary flair.
A resounding favorite is the single “Close To You,” a heartfelt ballad that could reflect both an earthly love and that of a relationship with God. CeCe
speaks on the double meaning of the song saying:
“Bebe is a romantic writer and people don’t equate that with gospel music. When you have an intimate relationship with the Father it’s sweet, it’s pure. It’s the ultimate love relationship. Love asks how can I serve you and how can I bless you while stating how much I need you. The safest place for me is being close to Him and even in the natural, it’s a safe place being with my brother.”
The Buzz: Altered Minds Tour, Stellar Awards, Latest Album Releases and More

Here is some of the latest buzz in all things Gospel music:
Reach Records Altered Minds Tour

After the powerful energy of the Don’t Waste Your Life Tour, Reach Records is launching the Altered Minds on October 1st, blending Christian Rock and Rap. The tour will feature artists like Lecrae, After Edmund, Sho Baraka (in November), Tedashii (in October), and Mike’s Chair. From the Reach Records Website:
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2a
As a culture we need our minds completely altered. Day after day we are bombarded with messages contrary to God’s heart. “Live for yourself” is the constant pressure we feel and sometimes unscriptural messages even work their way in…

Lessons On Laughter: Part 2 of Q&A with Miz T – Gospel Comedienne

Miz T shares how her passion for creating laughter has brought spiritual lessons into her life…
In the first part of the Q&A Tranea Prosser, also known as Miz T, shared how she discovered her passion to make others laugh and turned it into her ministry, and now she’s living out her God-given dreams. In part two Miz T gives some wisdom on supporting one another in ministry, advice for young people, and tips on embracing one’s unique calling. Read below for some of her lessons on laughter:
Dream in Soul: You’ve previously mentioned the importance of people mentoring each other, and pulling each other up to be successful. Can you say a little about this, and why it’s important for the community of God to support those who are upcoming and younger?
MizT: That gift of exhortation sure talks alot! Two years ago there were only two people doing Christian comedy in Austin. I reached out to him and invited him to my CD release program where he was introduced and he returned the invitation when he had a production. We are very supportive of each other and to each other in regards to the comedic ministry. The Word says that we are the body of Christ and are all equally important with our separate functions. We need to learn to appreciate everyone for their ministry gifts and not feel like competing against them.
