Video Throwback: “Forgive Me” – Group 1 Crew & Tour with KJ-52

moderndaythumbnailHere’s a throwback video from Group 1 Crew’s 2007 self-titled album. You might ask what’s up with G1C now? Blanca, Manwell and Pablo are currently touring with KJ-52 on the Modern Day Heroes Tour. You can keep up with the group via their website or Facebook page.

The Modern Day Heroes Tour will not only feature great music but also Firestarter Bible Studies lead by the artists themselves. This Bible study is a unique experience for local students to study the book of Luke taught by the artists before they perform. Spaces for the bible study will be limited to the people who purchase presell tickets, so be sure to get your tickets early. You can also go to the website to nominate a local hero in your town. Visit the tour website to see if they’ll be in a city near you, and check out the promo video here.

“Lord though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I’m not scared cause You’re holding my breath
I only fear that I don’t have enough time left
To tell the world that there’s no time left…”
– From “Forgive Me”

Start Here: Doing Hard Things Right Where You Are

Alex and Brett Harris, founders of The Rebelution, and authors of “Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations” (which we wrote about in a previous post) have recently launched a follow-up book “Start Here: Doing Hard Things Right Where You Are.” “Start Here” was created to layout ways young people can start now living extraordinarily for God and challenges them to overcome the stereotypes society has of teens by living in a way that rebels against the standard. Their anthem “Do Hard Things” dares teens not to waste their teen years doing things that won’t matter in the long run, but to glorify God in hard things, big and small.

Check out the video and description below. You can support the launch of the book by pre-ordering on Amazon. Visit TheRebelution.com for more info and great content to inspire you to grow in Christ.

starthereYou want to do hard things.
But you don’t know where to start.

You are changing the world around you.
But you are tired and burned out.

You feel called to do the extraordinary for God.
But you feel stuck in the ordinary.

Do Hard Things inspired thousands of young people to make the most of the teen years. Now Alex and Brett Harris are back and ready to tackle the questions that Do Hard Things inspired: How do I get started? What do I do when I get discouraged? What’s the best way to inspire others?

Filled with stories and insights from Alex, Brett, and other real-life rebelutionaries, Start Here is a powerful and practical guide to doing hard things, right where you are.

Are you ready to take the next step and blast past mediocrity for the glory of God?

Start here.

21:03 in the Studio

2103studio

Word is that Gospel trio 21:03, (consisting of members Jor’el Quinn, Torrence Green, and Evin Martin), is in the studio working on their next album. In a recent UStream broadcast they predicted the album would drop in late Spring, so look out for it. Check out a sneak peek of one of their songs “Favor” below, and some clips of them in the studio with PAJAM making the song “I Wanna Hear Your Voice.” Both of the songs are catchy with 21:03’s signature R&G (Rhythm and Gospel :) ) urban flair. The messages are also really relevant to today: “I lost my focus… Maybe it’s Facebook? Maybe it’s Twitter?” (Who can’t relate to that?).

The guys also shared an exclusive video of them in the studio recording “Favor” on the music blog Gospel Pundit, which you can view here.

Update: Click here to listen to an exclusive full version leak of “FAVOR” on Gospel Pundit.

Gospel Flava interviewed 21:03 asking how they’ve grown since their last album and about what inspires them in creating this next one:

Evin: Many of the songs on this new record are being birthed from our life experiences and conversations we kicked around with PAJAM. Many times, we heard a track and then the melodies and words would follow. At other times, concepts came in the shower, while we were asleep, or we were inspired while we were listening to the Word at church. It’s been really fun creating and developing the ideas into full-fledged songs. Click here to read the full interview.

Visit 21:03’s Facebook fanpage to share what you think about the songs. Be sure to follow them on Twitter and Youtube too.

If you’re new to 21:03 check out our Spotlight of the group: “21 Reasons to Love 21:03″.
Stay tuned for more updates on them and other young music artists in our SOAR Youth-Full Artists series.

Positive TV programming for teens might be scarce these days but the show Check the Sound is a great option that stands out and rocks for God. Aimed at reaching today’s generation, Check the Sound is a music and faith-filled half-hour program showcasing some of the hottest bands and performers in Christian music. The concert-style show is taped in front of a studio audience and the three young hosts and siblings, Rachel, Jonathan and Rebecca Lamb, also sit down with the artists to ask them questions about their music and faith journey.

Past artists featured on the show include: Canton Jones, Ayiesha Woods, PureNRG, Group 1 Crew, Niyoki, Lecrae, Brandon Heath, Leeland, Mandisa, Britt Nicole, Barlow Girl and many more.

The show comes on Friday and Saturday nights at midnight, and the featured music artist for Saturday, February 20 is music artist Krystal Meyers.

Where to Watch: Check the Sound is produced and aired on the Daystar Television Network. Daystar is available on a variety of different systems such as cable and satellite (including DirectTV and Dish Network). Contact your local provider to find out if they carry Daystar as part of their available programming, and check to see if it’s available where you live by clicking here.
